Is a catering business a good idea?

Im twenty with a lot of money in the bank, i am coming to an end of an apprenticeship with a electrical company that i do not like. I am now looking to move on.

I was thinking i am good at cooking and wouldn't mind catering, but i wouldn't mind working for myself. Is a catering company a good idea, because there seems to be a lot of competition?

Also if i did set up a catering company, is there any advice you could give to help?

True, there is a lot of competition. But people always need to eat, so this is one of the few classic niches a lot of people start sucsesfull businesses from.

As advice: Look for potenial customers (or even maybe business connections through people you already know) and evaluate the need in your local area, before you start.
