Was this nanny job a big prank?

Was this nanny job a big prank?

Was this nanny job a big prank?
I'm 19 years old with only 6 months of paid nanny experience. I recently advertised on craigslist manhattan, ny as a liv-in nanny. I got a response from the secretary of a high net worth man asking if I would be interested in being nanny to his 3 year old daughter as well as household manager for all of his employees (driver, chef, housekeeper). Soon after a few emails, his secretary got my number and had the man call me.
I was immediately extremely intimidated by him. He expressed the need to "ok" my everyday wardrobe, personal outings, and even what shows I would watch in the privacy of my own bedroom. He even asked how I would feel about being grounded? When I asked about vacation time, he said he would prefer I take the private jet when going home to visit my family! He was offering 50-60,000 dollars a year, or at least $1,000 a week.

After hearing all of his demands, I hung up and declined the job through his secretary. My sister thinks it was all a big prank! After all, what high net worth man would employ a 19 year old as their household manager and find their help on craigslist.

I thought the whole process seemed, although insanely demanding, completely serious. The man never once laughed on the phone, although I may have when he asked me about being grounded.

OMG this sounds like one of those online rapist!!!! lol just be careful that was really extream, come on he has to monitor what u do everyday , werid n freaky if u ask me as well that if he was the president of the us id take up the offer but just random guy nty, i wouldnt do it most likely it was a prank or he was trying to get women to come to his house and abuse them, scary either way report it on craigslist and just move on, be happy that u didnt go and nothing bad happened to you ^.^

I don't think it was a prank but I also don't think he wanted just a nanny. He sounds very controlling and possibly dangerous. You did the right thing by declining the job. People who are sickos are very adept at seeming serious and well-mannered in the initial stages when they try to entrap someone. You exercised good judgment.

Yeah, you did the right thing. That sounds extremely suspicious. You only want to deal with things like that in person. That's the key. Dealings of that magnitude over the phone have a much higher chance of being some sort of fraud.

You shouldn't have hng up, even it was a prank it wouldn't have mattered - what would you have had to lose??? If you can, call back. :-)

I hope it was a "prank".

Sounds to me like it may be something much worse.

So tell me, did the secretary's email come from Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail?

probably. lol that's so funny. ;-)

I was also very intense like you previous days, and I started searching online to make some money but i was not having very good results then after a struggle of a week i reached a placeIt has lots of jobs to choose from and was amazingly satisfying my needs of daily spending and I was making more then 700$/month for free without any investment and I know how it feels to have 700$ in hands. (So, Good luck and have nice earnings there.)
