What is the minimum wage for a 19YO in the UK? and how many breaks am I allowed?
I started work yesterday at 8.30am and worked through till 1.30am the following morning. I'm a floor sander so it's pretty hard work, my boss told me I'd get £100 for it which works out at £5.88 an hour.
I think that's above the minimum wage but shouldn't I be getting a higher rate because I'm working a longer shift which gotes through till the early hours of the morning? Or is that just a courtesy thing that companys offer.
Also I only got 2 breaks for something to eat: about 20mins at 12.30pm and 30mins at 9.30pm
and 3 cigarrette breaks throughout which my boss was moaning at me to get back to work.
Thanks

No legal rates for working through the night, but I think those sort of shifts are breaking the working time regulations. You are entitled to a 20 minute break every 6 hours. You are lucky you are getting cigarette breaks as people who do not smoke get less break time than you. If its the only job around and you are happy with it, don't rock the boat.
