Subleasing/Roommates on parole (Detroit)?
I am looking to move out in a month or so to Detroit (Rent is cheap, the area im looking at is safe, so keep neg comments to yourself please!). Since I cant afford to do it on my own, I asked a friend to move with me. He is currently on parole in St Clair county and will be off in 18 months. Since he has a felony, I'm pretty sure that if I put him on the lease that we will be denied. If he rents from me, and I dont tell the management company, can I get in trouble or evicted? Since hes on parole, he will be switching his P.O. to Wayne County, but since his name wont be on the lease, will be in violation of his parole? Or should he just not tell his PO and keep it in St Clair county and just report when he was to? I dont want him going back to prison for this.

You CANNOT do that. Landlords have every right not to rent to felons & you have no right to deny them that. All tenants are required to be approved by the landlord & on the lease or they cannot live there. You CANNOT just move people in with you when you rent. Subleasing is typically illegal & IS illegal without landlord approval. If you sneak him in without the landlord's approval you will both be evicted & you could be sued.
You have to either find a place that will rent to felons (these are few & far between and will not be very nice places), or find a roommate without a criminal record.
